Own A Built-In Microwave? 4 Problems That Require A Repair Technician

Posted on

If you have a built-in microwave that's giving you problems, you don't want to just toss it out. Instead, contact an appliance repair technician. They can take care of the issues that are causing you problems. If you're not sure whether your microwave needs repairs, take a look at the list provided below. If you recognize any of the problems described below, it's time to call for repairs.

Your Food Isn't Cooked Evenly

If you have a turntable in your microwave, your food should cook evenly every time. If you don't have a turntable, you may need to manually turn your food during the cooking process. However, the end result will be the same — evenly cooked food. If your microwave is no longer cooking your food evenly, and you're ending up with areas that are overcooked while other areas are still cold, it's time for repairs. Improperly cooked food can be a real health hazard, especially where undercooking is concerned. Not to mention the fact that you can suffer serious burns from food that's overcooked.

Your Microwave Has Electrical Issues

If your microwave is experiencing electrical issues, disconnect the unit and call for repairs. Your microwave uses high voltage electricity during operation, which means only trained professionals should work on the system. If you're not sure how to identify electrical problems, look for the following signs. Electrical problems can present themselves through odors, such as the smell of burning wires, or through flickering lights inside the cooking compartment.

Your Control Panel Won't Work

If your control panel won't work properly, it's time to call for repairs, even if just a few of the buttons won't work. You might not know this, but the control panel on your microwave is one contained component. If one or two buttons are no longer functioning, it's just a matter of time before the rest of the buttons go out. The best thing you can do is have your microwave repaired as soon as the first button fails you.

Your Microwave Is Making Strange Sounds

Finally, if your microwave is functioning properly, you'll hear a distinctive humming sound while your food is cooking. However, if your microwave is suddenly clicking, buzzing, or rattling during operation, you may have a problem. The first thing you want to do is look inside the cooking compartment for anything that could be making the noise, such as an off-center turntable. If you can't identify the cause of the strange sounds, call for repairs right away.
