Have A Stove Burner That Is Not Lighting? Possible Reasons And How It Can Be Repaired

Posted on

If you have a stove burner that will not light, this can be caused by a variety of problems. Fortunately, you will likely be able to have the stove burner repaired so you do not have to purchase a new stove. Keep reading to learn of three reasons this may be happening, as well as how the burner will be repaired.

Problems with Spark Module

The spark module is what provides power to each burner. If the spark module is damaged, it may have a weak spark or may not have a spark at all. This will result in the burner not turning on. Contact a range repair service to repair this problem for you. You should first determine if the stove is under warranty. You can find this information on the sales receipt when you purchased your stove.

If the stove is not under warranty, the range repair service will first check the spark wires as this may be what is causing the problem. If so, the spark wires can be replaced. The spark module may also be defective and can be replaced with a new one.

Problems with Electrode

The electrode is the part that sends a spark to turn on a gas burner. If there are problems with this electrode it cannot send the spark so the burner will not come on. In some cases, it will try to spark but will not be strong enough to turn the burner on. You may hear a clicking sound when you turn the burner on if your stove is having this problem.

If your stove is having this problem a range repair service can replace the electrode to take care of this. This is an easy repair to make and will make your range like new again.

Problems with the Ignition Switch

Something else that can cause a burner to not turn on is having problems with the ignition switch. When you turn on a burner, the ignition switch sends electric voltage to the spark module. If there are problems with the ignition switch, it will not produce this voltage so the burner will not turn on. Turn on the other burners on the stove to see if they are working. If they are all working but only one is not, this may be the problem.

A range repair service can replace the ignition switch with a new one easily. This repair is quick so you likely will not have to pay a lot in labor charges. Once repaired, your burner will work like brand new again.

The range repair service can give you information on other problems you may have in the future so you can watch out for them.
